Natsume hints at Nintendo stepping away from SNES Virtual Console releases

Nintendo explains the Virtual Console selection process.

Natsume - Serious Fun

Yesterday, when addressing a question related to Pocky & Rocky in their personal Tumblr pageNatsume stated:

At this point, it’s unlikely we’ll see any other Natsume SNES games coming to the Virtual Console, as Nintendo’s interest has moved onto other classic systems.

Although not coming from Nintendo themselves, Natsume added more credibility to that statement by explaining how the selection process for Virtual Console titles is in their following statement:

The titles for Virtual Console are handled by Nintendo. The publisher and Nintendo discuss which classic titles would be a good fit and have the best potential to sell. Once a title is agreed upon, Nintendo and the publisher work together to bring that title to the designated system, with Nintendo doing the bulk of the work.

In recent times, The Wii U has seen more focus on Game Boy Advance, DS and Nintendo 64, so this isn’t really surprising, would you be disappointed if Nintendo stops releasing SNES games on the Virtual Console? And what do you think of their selection process? Let us know in the comments section!
