“GUNDAM GLOBAL CHALLENGE” wants to Make the 1:1 Scale Gundam Statue Walk by 2019

Mobile Suit Gundam started back in 1979 and despite low ratings which lead to it’s cancellation achieved legendary status among other animes specially those of the Mecha genre, thanks in no small part to Bandai’s Gunpla models back in the 80s. We are less than 4 years away from celebrating Gundam’s 40th anniversary, that’s why Gundam Global Challenge want to make the 1:1 RX-78-2 Gundam model in Odaiba walk. The task will not be an easy one because it presents the same difficulties as making a 6 story building walk.

The Gundam Global Challenge project began on July of 2014, the group consists of professionals in various areas such as Yoshiyuki Tomino, Shuji Hashimoto, Pitoyo Hartono, Katsuyuki Motohiro, Seichi Saito and others, Their areas of expertise range from various diverse backgrounds as radio communications, sports medicine, robotics, information technology, and automotive engineering. Since then it has received several applications from people all over the world, Gundam fans are encouraged to share their feedback of the project.

Hopefully if the project is successful others will take notice, why not have a 1:1  model of Pat Labor, Voltron or even Mazinger that can also move?
