A hacker group who claims to be affiliated with Anonymous released a file on today allegedly containing about 13,000 passwords and username combinations for sites like Amazon, Xbox Live and Playstation Network, along with credit card numbers and their corresponding expiration dates.

The stolen account information was posted to Internet file sharing site Ghostbin. The file has since been removed but it is best to review your personal details such as email address and change your passwords just to be safe.
Sites associated with the username and password leaks, including Amazon, Walmart, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Hulu Plus and have been compiled in a comprehensive list by Aaron Sankin of The Daily Dot. The file also included a number of dating and porn sites accounts.

The news comes just one day after Microsoft’s Xbox Live and Sony’s PlayStation networks suffered connection failures thanks to the work of hacker group Lizard Squad. The hack interrupted the gaming of Xbox’s estimated 48 million subscribers and PlayStation’s 110 million.

The chances that one of your passwords is among the 13,000 affected accounts are extremely unlikely. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry, right? It’s best to change your passwords as soon as possible just to be safe.
