This last Tuesday evening, at the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, CEO Kevin Tsujihara took the stage to give the attendees a rundown of all the movie projects the studio has. After saying they have at least 10 DC Comics movies coming in the next 5 years, Tsujihara said:
“We’re working with Ben Affleck on a standalone Batman movie,
This is the first confirmation by a WB Executive that a Batman movie is in the works, there have all sorts of rumors regarding the project since Ben Affleck was cast as The Dark Knight. Recently, it was said that he and Geoff Johns, CCO of DC Entertainment were working on the script together.
Said rumor was backed up by a talent agency CEO who said there was a Batman script written by Affleck that was actually a cool idea. Ben Affleck himself complimemented Mr. Johns by saying “Geoff Johns is a brilliant guy, he and I are working on something and I really am excited about it, and I love him, he’s the best”.
Of course, there is no direct confirmation that Ben Affleck is involved beyond acting as Batman. Recently two release dates were given for a couple of DC Comics based movies, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the films were new and not part of the existing DC/WB slate of two Justice League movies, Aquaman, Suicide Squad, Cyborg, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Shazam!, and Green Lantern Corps.
