As of December 28, 2012, the Sony PlayStation 2 has ceased shipping to Japanese retailers thus marking it as a legacy system. The PS2 had an impressive long run since it was released on March 4, 2000. With a twelve year run under tis belt, it become the biggest-selling and most critically-acclaimed home video game console of all time. Rest in peace PS2. 😉

Production stopped in Japan but I am sure they are still being made elsewhere. If not, I am certain there are stockpiles of unsold PS2 waiting to a owner. I still rock my PlayStation 2 every now and then. It just feels good. Reminds me of good times, you know? 🙂

If by people modding the PS2 then yes it will still be made elsewhere other then Sony and yes there still stockpiles of unsold PS2 in stores. I do remember how I broke my PS2 when I was playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance when I moved the console thanks to the wire PS2 controller. XD LOL

I was looking for something this morning and stumbled upon my PS2 along my entire game collection. Could this be a sign? I think so! I will play some of my PS2 games tonight… I’ll start with Resident Evil: Code Veronica X.
