Dragon Quest VIII coming to The 3DS

Dragon Quest VIII coming to The 3DS

Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of The Cursed King, it will launch in Japan on August 27 and will be priced at 5800 Yens.

Dragon Quest VIII originally launched in 2004 on the PlayStation 2 and then it was ported to smart devices last December. However, Dragon Quest VIII on The Nintendo 3DS will feature a brand new scenario, new party characters such as Garda (a female thief) and Morrie (from Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road), also, Dragon Quest VIII’s events will now include voice-overs as well as an orchestral soundtrack performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and will also have StreetPass support.

Dragon Quest VIII will have several retailer specific pre-order bonuses on offer:

[Weapon] Square Enix e-Store – Candy Cane (Yangus)
[Armor] Amazon Japan – Healie T-Shirt armor (everyone)
[Helmet] Aeon – Healie Cap (everyone)
[Weapon] Game Tsutaya – Gold Bamboo Spear (protagonist)
[Accessory] 7-Eleven – Lucky Pendant (everyone)
[Shield] Yodobashi Camera – Metal Slime Tray (everyone)

The sales for The Nintendo 3DS have slightly lost a little momentum in Japan, Satoru Iwata reiterated this explaining the 3DS could use with a boost in its homeland of Japan.

The series has always had limited localization outside of Japan, so Dragon Quest VIII in the west seems unlikely.

We will keep you posted about this and other news regarding Dragon Quest VIII.
