Back in 2013, through crowdfunding means, it was announced a spiritual sequel to Eternal Darkness on the Nintendo Gamecube called Shadow Of The Eternals, the game was set to be developed for the PC and Wii U and possibly other formats. Unfortunately it failed twice to achieve its goals due to bad press from litigations against Silicon Knights from Epic Games and some people believing it was a scam. Despite all that Shadow Of The Eternals is still somehow in development.
Precursor Games chief, Denis Dyack, discussed with Brandon Orselli from Niche Game about various topics including yellow journalism, what happened with X-Men Destiny and of course, the future of Shadow Of The Eternals, and although he doesn’t give a straight answer he commented the following:
Well, it all depends on what your definition of soon is. [laughs] Rather than tease, I would just say that we believe in the project and we’re doing everything we can to see this project – and other projects – some of which are really great as well, get out there. We’ve got some big plans for the future, and we’re being very aggressive on some things, and we’re really looking forward to see how things roll out.
I highly recommend this interview as he also discusses other topics such as #GamerGate, IGDA and censorship in the industry, part 1 can be found here and part 2 can be found here.
