Shenmue 3 nails kickstarter goal

Less than 12 hours after it was announced on the Sony E3 Conference was what it took for the Shenmue 3 kickstarter to hit it’s 2 million dollars goal. 2,673,700 is what Shenmue 3 has gathered as of this writing in a stream that doesn’t seem to end. That’s how much fans wanted this to happen, we’ve been waiting 13 years to close this chapter. Best of all is there are still many capsule toys as rewards and 31 days still to go. New stretch goals of 4 million are being set, which seem to be almost a reality at this rate, hopefully this means that the game will eventually have enough budget to be ported to other consoles and platforms.

How will new gamers receive Shenmue 3 is yet to be seen, as the original was a little slow paced, even for it’s time, plus keep in mind that this game will be made with a budget of about 4 million instead of 80 million.

Shenmue 3 is being created in Unreal Engine 4, and will finally pick up from the cliffhanger of Shenmue 2. “Ryo and Shenhua start off on a new journey that will take them farther into enemy territory,” explains the Kickstarter pitch, “deeper into mystery, and ever closer to their destiny.”

Shenmue 3 is to be released December 2017, we’ve waited 13 years so patience could be one of the many virtues of the Shenmue fanbase.
