Last year, Nintendo announced a new initiative called “Quality of Life”, which seemed to focus on creating sleep monitoring tools as well as other sort of wearable products, even though it seemed completely strange, Nintendo was very serious about it and still is, as they have been hard at work to deliver their first in the QoL line.
Nintendo has been filing several patents that reveal an alarm clock looking device with a built-in projector with what seems like the incorporation of a smart device, or it could be just a dock for a smart device. You can already get alarm clocks with projectors on Amazon for about 20 dollars. The sleep monitor, Nintendo claims, can predict the user’s mood depending on the data it captures visually and in audio. Forbes pictures the device as a companion to the Wii U, for example that will fling data to the gaming console, which the system in turn will be using to modify the plot depending on how the gamer reacts to it.
Although let’s not get ahead of ourselves, since there is little information on how the device works, from the pictures it seems to indicate that it also uses the Wii balance board, we have no idea what Nintendo is actually doing.
All we know for now is that Nintendo will be launching it’s QoL products next year.
