Sony president Shuhei Yoshida issued that the PlayStation 4 will not feature an always-online DRM function since many countries do not have robust internet connection to even support it.
“Did we consider it? No, we didn’t consider it,” he said. “The main reason being that many countries don’t have robust Internet connections. It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw [that] do not really have robust Internet.”
Well, you heard it from the head honcho of Sony. There will not be a always-online PS4. 🙂
