Electronic Arts will forgo it’s questionable Online Pass in it’s future games said in a GamesBeat interview with EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg.
According to EA, “many players didn’t respond to the format” and that EA “listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.”
The Online Pass system that EA popularized in late 2009 was designed to curb out used sales of their video games in order to generate revenue from players who purchased them secondhand, but wanted access to downloadable content and online features.
