As gamers, we all have our preferences and we all have our favorite consoles from the likes of Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, etc. But what happens when you begin to take your preference into a lifestyle in the name of a company even when they do stupid things? What happens when you start arguments on someone who likes or dislikes something you may not and that you don’t bring any counter arguments against them and instead use insults on them? From that description, I describe a fanboy, an individual that goes beyond being a fan and defends every single decision a company makes no matter if it’s stupid and hurts the company and themselves in the process.
The ignorance of fanboys are just mind blowing to say the least. Defending and fighting for the sake of a company that for the most part does not care about you and only cares for the money you give them is ridiculous. Having loyalty to any of the console manufacturer is just dumb to do no matter what. Doing that as a result makes you one of those foul mouth brats who goes into the forums and demotes anyone’s else preference towards yours whenever something bad happens to the system you brought. If you fit in those descriptions, then you look like this kid in the picture below.
There’s a fine line between a ”fan” and a ”fanboy’‘. A ”fan” is someone who buys a system from a company because they like the things that console has over the others like exclusives, controller, and experience offered to them. A ”fan” at the very least, can make criticism to their prefer platform and the company who makes bad decisions in order to improve it. A ”fanboy” on the other hand, is someone who automatically likes whatever company they grew up with and sticks to their decisions no matter what and automatically hates on the other who isn’t the company they stick with.
Look just because you’re a fanboy to lets say PlayStation, that doesn’t mean you can spend countless hours of your day trolling on the Xbox forums and say the Xbox One is garbage and that it’s a failure of a console. You make yourself look like a jackass and could have spend that same amount of time playing games on the system you believe is better then the one you keep hating. The bottom line is that if you like/dislike either one of the big 3’s console, at the very least not be a complete jerk about it and just play games. Cause that what we are right? Gamers and not drones.
