While best known for his work as an author, many of his creations were turned into movies and video games like The Hunt for Red October, The Sum of All Fears and Shadow Watch. His impact on the video game blossomed when he co-founded Red Storm Entertainment in 1996. The studio found its first hit with the release of 1998’s tactical shooter Rainbow Six. Ubisoft would later purchased the studio in 2000, following the success of that game. Ever since the purchase, there has been 17 Rainbow Six games developed by Ubisoft.
Ubisoft confirmed that the publisher will “continue to create games and properties within the Tom Clancy’s brand universe” so expected Clancy’s name to continue on with Tom Clancy’s The Division setting for a release in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The entire staff at Stagger’d would shared our grief to the saddened news of death and we hope his family is alright. Without your contribution, we would never have gotten many excellent games under your name from Ubisoft.
Rest in peace, Tom Clancy!
