Through a surprising strange move by Nintendo, the company will allow developers to implement cross-platform multiplayer across multiple gaming console.
Ripstone revealed these news after asking Nintendo whether they could implement a cross-platform multiplayer feature for their games. A few days later, Ripstone got the green light in regards to the cross-platform multiplayer question.
“We’re launching Pure Chess and Knytt Underground later this year, and on Pure Chess we asked whether we could do cross-platform multiplayer, expecting it to be the typical closed console platform I’ve been used to working with for 20 years. Within a couple of days they said, ‘yep, no problem. You can have other console players playing against Wii U players. You can have smartphone players play against them. No problem,” said an unnamed Ripstone developer.
Nintendo has not released a statement about the feature via a press release but nevertheless, it’s rather great of Nintendo to allow a game company like Ripstone to implement this feature in their system for it.
