As announced by Nintendo at the end of the Super Smash Bros. Invitational video (below), the GameCube Controller Adapter will be used on the Nintendo Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. It is unclear if the GameCube Controller Adapter will only be used for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U at this time.
