Halo 5: Guardian’s DLC Maps Will All Be Free

Yes you’ve read the headline of the article right. On top of the 20 multiplayer maps when Halo 5: Guardian launches this year, 15 additional DLC maps will be free of charge as announced in Game Informer’s Halo 5 cover story.

343 Industries’ studio head Josh Holmes said that the team wants to keep Halo 5‘s player base united than divided and that it’s ”the biggest investments we’ve made in multiplayer in series history.

When you have paid map packs and content, you divide the player base into two groups: the haves and the have-nots,” Holmes said. “The people that have the map pack can play together but the people who don’t cannot. That to us is a real problem. So we’re delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together. That, we feel, is really important to having a great multiplayer ecosystem.

Halo 5: Guardian is set to release in October 27 as an exclusive on Xbox One with the free 15 additional multiplayer maps to launch June 2016.
