Yesterday, Starbreeze, the parent company for Overkill Software, announced that it has acquired the Payday rights back from 505 Games and that it’s steering the franchise back on track.
What was also announced was microtransactions being removed from Payday 2 and that Payday 3 is in development. In an upcoming patch for Payday 2, microtransactions are being removed and that the skill tree will receive an overhaul. Payday 2 will also get more content/updates for the next 18 months on multiple platforms including PC and consoles.
