In celebration of Tomb Raider’s twenty years in gaming as a franchise, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix has announced Rise of the Tomb Raider will finally launch on PlayStation 4 as Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration.
This edition of last year’s Rise of Tomb Raider will include the base game, a new story chapter called “Blood Ties”, new co-op gameplay, PlayStation VR support for the new “Blood Ties” chapter, all previously released DLC and more for PlayStation 4 owners.
With the exception of VR support, all the new content in Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will also be available to owners who already bought the game on Xbox One and PC, though you must be a current Season Pass owner to automatically receive the content for free. PlayStation 4 owners won’t have to worry about the Season Pass, since all the content Xbox One and PC owners already got will be included in the 20 Year Celebration edition.
“The studio is celebrating with all Tomb Raider fans, thanking them for being on Lara’s 20 year journey with us,” said Scot Amos, co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics. “The team has packed in surprises, new story, and the top-requested special features into this 20 Year Celebration edition.”
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is set for an October 11, 2016 release for PlayStation 4 owners. The base game of Rise of the Tomb Raider is already available to purchase on either Xbox One or PC through the Microsoft Store.
