One thing I have always wondered about Grand Theft Auto growing up is why I heard children on select radio commercials but I never saw any children walking around or filling the playgrounds. I know now that there are legal reasons as to why (someone could record themselves going around killing children and post it on youtube). I’ve been thinking of ways children could be implemented into Grand Theft Auto with as little controversy and legal implications as possible, but maintaining as much realism about them as possible.
Here are some ways the next Grand Theft Auto could implement young children (with as little legal risk as possible).
- The main character could have children that are never seen outside of the safe house and school.
- Children could be seen walking around town hanging close to their parent(s) and/or crossing the street without looking yet miraculously avoiding getting struck by a car.
- Children can be found running around in parks and/or school playgrounds. Try to pull a gun out in these areas and you will get two stars. Hang around a bunch of children for just enough time and you will get four stars.
- Children can be seen being climbing into mysterious vans on side missions, dubbed “Pedophile Killer”, where you are to kill suspected pedophiles before they successfully make it back to their safe houses with the child(ren). After you kill the pedophile you have to open the back of the van and escort them back to your cop car and take them to the nearest precinct so they can be returned to their parents. The further you progress in this string of side missions, the more children will be in the back of the van after you kill the pedophile. Complete all of these missions and you will get greeted by the parents of children all over the city because you make them feel safe and also get a trophy/achievement called “The Bane of Pedophiles”.
I do realize that going out of my way to conceptualize pedophilia in Grand Theft Auto will net me some controversy but that’s one of the most realistic ways I can see children being included in the series.

Heh, I doubt Rock Star would ever put children in a a game like Grand Theft Auto. There would simply be too much controversy. Perhaps not being able to harm them would somewhat help, but I don’t know how much it would.
